About Preschool Photography

Our program is based on shooting individual photos with digital cameras.  Group photos can be done with digital or 35mm format. Generally, use of studio umbrella lighting with a background set up is required.  You must have a good technical knowledge of this type of set up to successfully accomplish the photography.  Use of light meters is strongly recommended.  We can advise you on how to set up lighting and compose subjects, however, we generally prefer to work with photographers that have a good basic understanding of lighting and composure.  We do not recommend learning “on the job” and we expect that you will have tested your set up and be comfortable with your equipment before you undertake an actual shoot.

Generally, you will take anywhere from 2 to 5 images of each child. You or our staff can pick the best image (we use only 1 image to produce the order and delete the rest).  You will submit your filed in .jpg format (we will provide you with submission guidelines).

In order to be successful at booking a significant number of preschools, you should plan on investing in a few backgrounds and posing props.  A good selection can be found at www.dennymfg.com (Denny Manufacturing).  Some examples are shown below.
